Family Support Programs (FSP)

The Family Support Program is a home-visiting and support volunteer service. Trained volunteers are linked with families, visit them on a regular basis, providing support mentoring, information and help. It is an early intervention service, assisting families to connect with the local community, helping parents feel confident in themselves and in their parenting skills and boost the bonds within the family dynamics.

Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre’s Family Support Program would like to say a big heart warm Thank You to the Maroochydore RSL for their generous donation to aid our families.

Community Development Programs (CDP)

The Community Development Program provides assistance, support, advocacy and facilitation in community engagement and capacity building for individuals and groups within the Sunshine Coast community – be it social, business or interest group.

The program also collaborates and/or partners with other services regarding co-ordination of existing services in the community and/or prioritises local community needs and issues.

Seconds-on-Fifth Opportunity Shop

This is a social enterprise business, a shop selling clothing, shoes, jewellery, bags, haberdashery, collectables and giftware, as seconds, to the broader community.

Currently operating 3 days a week (Tue, Thu and Fri) – 10:00am to 2:00pm. Income from this enterprise goes to supporting non-funded activities of the organisation e.g. One Roof Project and the Urban Farm.

Room & Kitchen Hire

The Centre provides the use and hire of rooms and facilities for community and commercial groups to access for general interest, education, training, social, support or self-help activity for a low-cost fee.

The Centre encourages the community to utilise the available rooms and facilities.

All hire of rooms is by application. The Centre has a food-licenced Commercial Kitchen, hired out to small food businesses and training organisations for hospitality courses and/or cooking classes.

Community Garden

This is a permaculture garden for the local neighbours who reside in urban apartments surrounding the Maroochy Neighbourhood Centre.

Designed along the English ‘allotment system’, the garden plots are rented out and gardeners produce and tend to their own vegetable and herb crops.

There is access to the worm farm, compost area and bins and rainwater tanks. Gardeners are mentored and supported by the Horticulturalist/Urban Farmer. Plots are renewed every 6 months.

One Roof Project

This ‘hub-style’ project provides a wrap-around service, providing a variety of nutritiously cooked meals to the homeless, struggling families and those marginalised or isolated in the community.

  • Operating each Tuesday and Thursday nights

  • A mobile shower is available on the premises for the homeless on those nights and Orange Sky Laundry provide a mobile laundry service on those nights as well.

  • All foods are donated through Oz Harvest, Second Bite, local food businesses and generous community donations.

  • Free Hairdressing is provided every 6-8 weeks on the dinner nights.

  • Also provided is employment counselling and referrals (Mission Australia), mental health check-ups (HHOT), drug and alcohol counselling and referral (QuIHN), NDIS.

The huge success of this program is largely due to the generosity and kindness of the broader community – ‘chipping-in’ financially, or with resources and/or volunteers, to help and support those marginalised and vulnerable.

Like to visit? Your welcome to visit the centre on Tuesday & Thursday nights from 4.30 pm to 6 pm.

Urban Farm

The Urban Farm grows and produces a range of chemical-free salad greens, herbs, edible flowers, seasonal fruit and vegetables on a permaculture basis, to sell to the local food sector (cafes, restaurants, catering businesses), as well as, to the broader community.

The Farm also has beehives, with honey up for sale as well. This is a social enterprise business to generate income to support other non-funded services operating from the Maroochy neighbourhood Centre.

The Farm operates horticultural workshops and educational tours by appointment.
